1. Who operates MeritPad

MeritPad is operated by the operator of MeritPad (referred to as “MeritPad,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to the MeritPad website, account system, resume tools, job recommendations, and paid services.

2. Information we process

  • Account information: your email address, display name, login status, and authentication records.
  • Resume and application information: resume Markdown, job descriptions, starred job listings, tailored versions, match results, and edits you choose to save.
  • Billing information: Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan status, billing period, and usage entitlement. We do not receive or store full payment-card numbers.
  • Usage and security information: feature usage counts, model token totals, request status, a random per-tab session identifier, coarse response-time ranges, page paths, and sanitized error codes needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. Operational telemetry does not contain resume text, job-description text, names, companies, email addresses, or raw IP addresses.

3. Uploaded documents

Uploaded PDF binaries are processed temporarily for extraction and are not intentionally retained by MeritPad. Confirmed resume text is saved only when you choose to save it to your account. Anonymous workspace drafts can remain in your browser’s local storage until you clear them or import them into an account.

4. How information is used

We use information to:

  • provide resume editing, tailoring, matching, and job discovery;
  • authenticate users and synchronize saved work;
  • process subscriptions and enforce plan limits;
  • prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and protect the service; and
  • meet legal, accounting, and payment obligations.

MeritPad does not sell your resume or personal information, and does not use saved resume content for advertising.

5. AI processing and service providers

When you request an AI feature, the confirmed resume text and relevant job description are sent to OpenAI to generate the requested result. MeritPad also relies on Supabase for authentication and database services, Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for hosting and delivery, and public employer job boards such as Greenhouse for job listings. These providers process information under their own agreements and privacy terms.

6. Retention and deletion

Saved resumes, tailored versions, and starred jobs remain until you delete them. You can unstar individual jobs and delete saved resume data from Account Settings. You can also permanently delete the login and account from Account Settings after confirming the account email. An active subscription is canceled immediately as part of account deletion. Limited billing, fraud-prevention, security, or legal records may be retained when required or reasonably necessary. Content-free operational telemetry is configured to expire after 90 days.

7. Security

We use access controls, server-side secret storage, signed billing events, and database row-level security. No online service can promise absolute security, so avoid placing unnecessary sensitive information in your resume or job notes.

8. Your choices

You may review or change your display name, download resume versions, delete saved resume data, cancel a subscription through the billing portal, or permanently delete your account through Account Settings. Support remains available if the self-service process fails. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information.

9. Children

MeritPad is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Policy changes and contact

We may update this policy as MeritPad changes. Material updates will be identified by a revised effective date. Questions and privacy requests can be submitted through the contact page or by email at support@meritpad.com.
